Covid-19 Safety at Beach Camp Retreat…

Here at Drop Bear Adventures Tours our team are fully committed to the safety and security of all our lovely guests and staff. The ongoing Covid-19 crisis has given rise to many changes which have been implemented to ensure everyone on site is protected, healthy and safe. Our team have implemented all the necessary procedures to ensure that the camp is fully compliant with government health directives. This has been the case since we re-opened our doors back in June.

Above all, we want to let our guests know they can have total peace of mind when it comes to health and safety, and can completely relax with us here on the island. After all that’s why you come to visit!

Pre check-in – questionnaire and extra information when you arrive

We insist that all guests and staff are screened prior to entry to the camp to eliminate the risk of anyone arriving from known hotspots. Anyone who wishes to stay with us is required to complete a questionnaire before they arrive indicating that they have not been to any Covid-19 hotspots and are not showing any flu like or other Covid symptoms. This ensures anyone with even the slightest possibility of infection is not allowed to enter the property, keeping all other guests safe. This is our first line of defence against the virus – the goal is to keep it off the island entirely if possible. When you do arrive our team will share special guidelines for your stay with us.

Social distancing – reduced capacity to limit guest numbers

As we all know, social distancing is crucial in preventing the spread of the virus, and our reduced capacity will help ensure this happens. There are also a number of notices around the camp reminding guests to keep a safe 1.5 metres apart.

Hand washing

We should all be expert hand washers by now and fully stocked supplies of hand sanitiser are available at reception, along with soap in all our bathrooms and kitchens. There are signs dotted around camp reminding guests to please keep their hands clean to help stop the spread. In addition to regular hand washing, guests are also asked to sanitise their ends upon entry to the kitchen, every time.

Hand Sanitising

We should all be expert hand washers by now and whether you are hand washing or hand sanitising it is important to get it right. Fully stocked supplies of hand sanitiser are available in the kicthen, along with soap in all our bathrooms and kitchens. There are signs dotted around camp reminding guests to please keep their hands clean to help stop the spread. In addition to regular hand washing, guests are also asked to sanitise their ends upon entry to the kitchen, every time.

Cleaning protocols – communal, high-touch areas and bedding

How we clean, the products we use and how often cleaning is performed throughout the camp has been adjusted to stop the spread of the virus through communal and high touch areas. Our kitchens are cleaned and sanitised three times a day – before 7am, after breakfast and before dinner at around 4pm. Despite being committed to sustainable, earth friendly cleaning products in normal times, these are not normal times and we have switched to harsher, more traditional products like bleach to ensure no nasties are left behind. Strict cleaning practices also extend to pillows, blankets and mattress protectors which are all replaced upon check out. Bedding is on rotation to prevent any chance of contamination.

The 4 metre rule

We’ve all heard of the 4 metre rule and luckily for us there is plenty of room as Beachcamp to spread out. Guests are asked to remain at a 4 metre distance from people outside of their immediate group at all times. Our friendly staff are eagle eyed and will politely remind any guest that doesn’t stick to this rule, sorry to be such sticklers guys and girls, we just want you to stay safe x
