A visit to Fraser Island can be so much more than just a tour, it can be a real adventure. Our tours feature a jam-packed itinerary that will have you swimming in freshwater lakes and creeks, 4WDriving huge golden beaches and embracing the great Australian bush. Our 3 Day/2 Night Wilderness Beach Camping Adventure offers you the chance to spend 3 magical days on a paradise island; and that’s not just a sales pitch, K’gari (the true name of the island) literally means paradise.

We offer 2 types of Fraser Island tours, our 3 Day/2 Night Wilderness Beach Camping Adventure which this page is all about, and our 2 Day/1 Great Lakes Escape featuring Beachfront Accommodation at our exclusive Beach Hostel. Both of our Fraser Island tours depart from Noosa and Rainbow Beach, two townships that are just north of Brisbane, between 2 and 3 hours drive.

Our 3 Day tour features quality camping gear, fully automatic vehicles, a packed itinerary, heaps of activities, lots of super fresh yummy food and a passionate tour guide full of stories that will have your mind blown by how special this island is and the reason it is World Heritage Listed.

Now it’s no secret that we are not the only Fraser Island tour company, but just as much as it is no secret that we are the only Fraser Island tour company to be ranked #1 on Trip Advisor despite being the new kids on the block. We have also taken home awards such as the Best Tour/Activity in Australia despite being a super small and young company. We don’t mean to blow our own trumpet too loud but we work really hard to be the best and are proudly driven by passion. Like Poppa Bear always says ‘It’s a very simple formula for me, firstly… look after our guests, inspire great teamwork and help preserve K’gari’s beauty.’

We want your experience to be unforgettable for all the right reasons. Sharing such an amazing place with the world’s wonderers is what we love to do and luckily for us, we’re pretty good at it. As equally important to us as great customer service, is respecting the land and it’s traditional owners. A lot of the magic that we share with you on tour comes from the teachings of our First Nations People and it is our honour to be able to share it with you.

ALL THE THINGS YOU’LL SEE & DO ON TOUR

Swim in Fraser Island’s most famous lake, possibly the world’s most famous lake; crystal clear Lake McKenzie. This freshwater lake averages between 22Âș and 27Âș and is surrounded by a white silica sand beach and eucalypt forest, it’s picture perfect.

A beautiful headland located on the east coast of K’gari – Fraser Island. A sacred place to be respected and admired for its amazing 360Âș view. From here you can spot an abundance of marine life and if you happen to be visiting at the right time of year it’s THE SPOT to see Humpback Whales from Fraser Island.

The rainforest on Fraser Island is the kind of place that we read about it in mythical books. A magical forest that has a voice of her own, towering trees that sway with the breeze and animals that make strange noises. This is the heart of K’gari, where dinosaur plants survive and rainforest thrives.

About 70km north of our Wilderness camp, the bubbling Champagne Pools are simply irresistible. It’s the only place that you can safely swim in the ocean on Fraser Island and it’s crystal clear. With lots of little fishes to spot too, it’s a natural aquarium so feel free to bring your snorkel mask but it’s not essential.

Eli Creek is the largest freshwater creek on the east coast of Fraser Island. A natural lazy river, this pristine creek is great for a refreshing swim all year round. With a constant temperature of 18Âș it’s the best wake up on a hot day and beats any hangover cure that we’ve ever heard of ha!

Learning about the journey of the historical Maheno Shipwreck before she came to rest on the island is one of the most fascinating stories you will hear on your Fraser Island tour with us. This rusty old shipwreck has had many lives and even hosted a wonky wedding after she ran aground, but now she lays to rest where some say, she belongs.

Lake Wabby is the island’s hidden little gem. Buried deep in the bush you have to take a 2.5 km hike through sand dunes and bush tracks just to be able to get to the lake. Home to some rather large cat fish, Lake Wabby is unlike any other lake on the island, its the emerald jewel in the island’s crystal crown of lakes.

75 Mile Beach is, well it’s a road. It’s the island highway and you’ll travel all of it during your 3 day tour. An 80km highway of stunning coastal line, 75 Mile Beach has to be the most scenic drive you’ll ever take.

Drop Bear Adventures Fraser Island

By starting or ending your tour in Noosa you get the chance to take the scenic drive down Rainbow Beach, past the beautiful coloured sands. This drive is only available on a low tide and is subject to weather conditions. Otherwise you get to drive through the beautiful Cooloola National Park which usually involves seeing a few Kangaroos!

Only when in Australia… if you’re holidaying or travelling in the land downunder, you are bound to have a bucket list of things that you need to experience. Learning to play an authentic Didgeridoo and throwing a Boomerang has to be right up there. Well on our tour you can do both and the fun doesn’t stop there. We also have heaps of beach games, cards and even Jumbo Jenga at our camp!

AND ALL THE THINGS YOU WANT FROM A GOOD TOUR

Drop Bear Adventures Fraser Island

So much of what makes a tour great comes from the guide and we make sure that our lads are a cut above the rest… after all, they are upholding the legacy of Mumma and Poppa Bear themselves. When you travel with us you won’t hear some boring rehearsed script, oh no. You’ll hear true understanding, passion and excitment to share our abundance of knowledge.

If our experience has taught us anything it’s that Toyota Landcruisers are the best!  With a fleet of these beasty trucks, we are confident in saying that our 4WD’s are some of the easiest to drive off road. With an automatic transmission and in constant 4WD you can let your hair down and have some fun as you cruise along the beach in one of our Drop Bear landcruisers.

Some cheeky companies can charge you up to $30 a day for ‘national park fees’ or ‘local charges’ but not us. Everything is included in our tours so you rest assured that you are most certainly not going to be strung for any extras along the way.

4WDRIVING ON FRASER ISLAND

4WDriving on Fraser Island is heaps of fun and is a top highlight for many of our guests. We take the hassle out of navigating the beach and knowing all the 4WD techniques so all you have to do is follow your guides wheel tracks and simple instructions. All our vehicles are fully automatic and in constant 4WD so you can relax and take in the scenery. We also have full communication in all the cars via walkies talkies.

CAN I DRIVE?

If you have a full/open drivers licence, are over 21 and passed your driving test more than 12 months ago you can drive a Drop Bear 4WD. You need to have the Photo ID Card Licence with you and if your licence is not written in English or states ‘Drivers Licence’ on it in English you will need to provide an international translation. Please note that you cannot drive if you just have an international translation. You must have your physical licence with you as it is illegal to drive in Queensland without having your licence. If the police stop you on Fraser Island the fines can be very hefty and we don’t want you to pay the government any of your holiday spending money.

WHAT IF I CAN'T OR DON'T WANT TO DRIVE?

That’s OK, every pilot needs a good co-pilot to bust out the best tunes and handle walkie talkie communications. ?

IS IT SAFE?

Driving any vehicle requires safe practises regardless of where you are driving and we do everything we can to make sure that our adventures together are as safe as possible. Your tour guide will conduct a detailed safety briefing on the morning of your tour as well as showing a government safety video depicting best 4WDriving practises. All Drop Bear tag along cars are in constant 4WD and have been rated as one of Australia’s most reliable and safe vehicles, the Toyota 80 series. You are also in constant contact with your guide via walkie talking and are never more than 500m behind the lead vehicle. So rest easy little traveller, we’ll look out for you on your island adventure.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
Our camp hasn’t been designed by some novelty campers, oh no! It has been designed by our very own Poppa Bear who has 30plus years of camping experience under his belt. So don’t fear, a little rain and wind won’t dampen our camping spirits and if the weather gets really hairy we always have a Plan B with our Drop Bear Hostel just down the road. ?
IS THERE AN OPTION TO UPGRADE?

Of course! We’re excited to announce a new addition to our Wilderness Camp; the chance to upgrade to our brand new 4 man tents that sleep two people in a REAL double bed! The upgrade costs $100 per tent for the two nights and all linens are provided.

TRAVELLING WITH KIDS?
Sadly our 2 and 3 day tours are not suitable for little kids. Big kids are most certainly welcome, so whether you are 15 or 50 and you love an adventure this is the tour for you. If you are travelling with young kids and you really want to experience a little Drop Bear magic we suggest giving us a call on +61 (0) 487 333 606 and we can either arrange a private tour (minimum 12 people) or help you arrange a self guided experience.
