There is no better way of immersing yourself in the natural beauty of Fraser Island than by camping out under the stars. Camping on the island is peaceful and relaxed, and if it’s a party you’re after you won’t find it here. In fact the only sounds you’re likely to hear by night are the distant howls of a dingo or the ocean waves lapping the shore (and ok, maybe the odd snore from a fellow camper but what can you do?). The pristine, natural environment of Fraser Island is its biggest asset and settling down for the night in the middle of it all is an experience not to be missed.
Camping with us on Fraser Island – What to Expect
You might imagine that an island that prides itself on its seclusion and lack of “ready made” facilities isn’t the place to come for a comfortable night’s sleep. But here at Drop Bear Adventures we’ve got you covered. From 1st February 2020 all our guests will be treated to a night or two (depending on the tour) in our fully equipped Wilderness Camp.
There’s no cold water showers and cramped tents here. We have the place set up just like home with hot showers, a mobile camp kitchen to rustle up a hot breakfast and tasty dinners, plus brand new spacious 3 man tents which only ever sleep 2 people at a time so there’s always plenty of room. Cosy sleeping bags means you’ll never get chilly and blow up mattresses are provided in every tent. Did we mention there’s a proper loo, too?
You Don’t Have to Worry About Equipment
We provide all the camping equipment you’ll need, you just need to come with an open mind and a sense of adventure. Our guides are passionate about preserving the delicate environment of this World Heritage listed island which is why our camp is low impact and we never, ever leave anything behind. Plus our new tents are built to last which means no more cheap, throwaway equipment that ends up in landfill before too long.
Spend your days exploring deserted beaches, swimming in crystal clear lakes, spotting dingoes and other unique wildlife, then head to camp as the sun sets and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. It truly is a little slice of heaven out here.
