Dropbearadventure Lighthouse

Enjoy the view from Double Island Point Lighthouse

Double Island Point Lighthouse has been in operation continually since it was built in 1884 to guide vessels through the treacherous Sunshine Coast waters. Obviously, there have been many changes over the years – today, the lighthouse is solar powered and automated – but it still retains its nostalgic red-and-white look.

The tower is closed to the public, but that doesn’t stop us from enjoying the stunning panoramic view on our Cooloola National Park Day Tours. 4WD vehicles with the appropriate permits can drive up the track and take in one of the best views the Sunshien Coast has to offer. Glance across to Rainbow Beach, with Teewah Beach stretched out below. Spot turtles, sharks, stingrays, dugongs, dolphins and even (in season) whales in the water below, watch the surfers and the ferry crossing to Fraser Island.
