We recruit for 2-3 Hosts twice a year for a 6 month contract. We have planned start dates of the 20th June 2018 for 2 people and 3 more positions to start in November 2018. So how do you know if you have what it takes to join this super passionate and dedicated team of crazy Drop Bear’s?

TICK THE ESSENTIAL BOXES! 

To be able to work for our 4WD tour business you NEED to have a full drivers licence and be over 25. Previous leadership experience, outstanding organisation skills, and a valid work visa are also a must. 

You must also be the type of person who loves nature and is a huge conservationist at heart. It is super important to us as the most eco-conscious company on the island that you too share our vision for a clean and sustainable way of living. 

IMPORTANT JOB DETAILS:

This is a contract position for 6 months, please note that there is a 2 week training/trail program and a 3 month probation period. These 2 positions START on the 20th June. If this isn’t the best timing for you REMEMBER that this is a 6 month contract so you can apply in advance for the next time we recruit which will be in December. 

Both of these positions pay $18.29ph for Monday to Friday hours, $22.86ph for Saturday hours and $31.09 for Sundays hours worked. You will work between 35 and 40 hours a week which are rostered and pay rates will increase slightly after the 3 month probation period. 

JOB TITLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Both the Retreat and Camp Host Jobs involve lots of housekeeping, cooking, resource management, 4WDriving, waste management and general cleaning duties. 

The CAMP HOST will be responsible for our wilderness camp which includes managing the facilities and welcoming our guests that embark on our 3 day tours. 

The RETREAT HOST will be responsible for our Beachcamp Retreat which includes checking guests in and out as well as additional admin tasks and taking bookings via phone and email. 

PLEASE NOTE that this is NOT an easy job; it requires hard work, being resourceful, physical fitness and a lot of passionate energy. Drop Bear Adventures is the #1 tour company on Fraser Island and when you apply for any position with us you must be prepared to commit to the responsibility and teamwork that it takes to provide a great customer experience and to look after this precious island. 🙂

FAQ about our 6 month contracts:

Q – CAN I STAY LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS? 

You can but we would worry that you would be Fraser fried over 6 months anyway so it would be something that we could discuss closer to the time. 

Q – WHERE WOULD I LIVE? 

You would have your own room at our Hostel which is fully furnished and has an en-suite. 

Q – What if I am under 25? 

You are welcome to apply if you are under 25, however, we will look for you to have had some rather unique life experiences if you think you have the all the skills you need to nail this job. 

Q – How do I get to Fraser Island? 

We will take you to the island 🙂 

Q – What is on Fraser Island? 

A whole love of nature! Oh and there is a small shop, bakery and pub.
